Full-spectrum mushroom supplements are created by combining both myceliated grain and mushrooms. This is because each component has a unique set of nutrients that contribute to the overall health benefits of the supplement. To create full-spectrum products a grain-based substrate (such as sorghum) is injected with a sample of the fungi. As the fungus colonizes the grain, it secretes enzymes and secondary metabolites, effectively transforming the sorghum into an immune-active grain. During this process, the mycelium progressively produces mushrooms that are enriched with additional nutrients.
